WASHINGTON, D.C. (01-31-14) – Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest called the Guttmacher Institute’s release of “data” on a decline in abortion rates “an abortion industry propaganda piece short on data and long on strained conclusions.”

She noted: “It is impossible really to know the true abortion rate, given that abortionists are not required to report on the chemical and surgical abortions that they do. Their reporting is totally voluntary, and in fact California does not report at all.

“But what is compelling about this report can be seen on the front page of the Guttmacher Institute website, where they note the record number of new pro-life laws on the book, while they claim in this report that these measures have no impact. The truth is that these common-sense limits on abortion protect women and their unborn children from abortion industry abuses.

“And no matter how many abortions there are, abortion carries serious risks for both mother and unborn child, which should be of great concern to us all. Abortion should come with a warning label and be regulated like the medical procedure that abortionists claim it to be because of the health risks of abortion for women.”
