J. Margaret Datiles joined Americans United for Life (AUL) in September 2007. In addition to consulting with legislators in the areas of parental involvement, clinic regulations, emergency contraception/Plan B, end-of-life issues, and born-alive infant protection, Datiles' responsibilities also include drafting amicus curiae briefs on behalf of AUL.
Datiles first worked for AUL as part of AUL's 2006 Summer Fellowship Program. During her fellowship, Datiles assisted in authoring AUL's Supreme Court amicus curiae brief for Gonzales v. Carhart, and wrote an article on end-of-life issues for AUL's Defending Life 2007. In Spring 2007, Datiles worked for AUL a legal extern, assisting in drafting AUL's amicus curiae brief for Planned Parenthood v. Strickland.
Datiles earned her J.D. from Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America (CUA) in 2007. While in law school, Datiles served as an officer for both the law school's Advocates for Life student organization, and for The Pope John Paul II Guild of Catholic Lawyers. Datiles interned at the Marriage Law Project, part of CUA's Law and Religion Program. She also worked for Columbus Community Legal Services, which provides free legal services for the Washington, D.C. area.
Datiles graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors and a B.A. in Philosophy magna cum laude from the Catholic University of America in 2004.
She currently resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
