“The Gosnell trial highlights a travesty,” said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest. “Today in America, veterinary clinics are better regulated than many of the nation’s abortion clinics.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-25-13) – As the criminal case against notorious Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell heads toward closing arguments next week, the case for comprehensive and medically appropriate abortion clinic regulations has been made, noted Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest. “How many women, girls and infants must die before abortion clinics are appropriately regulated and inspected?”
“Today in America, veterinary clinics are better regulated than many of the nation’s abortion clinics, ” [...]
“The threats to the freedom of conscience are real and growing, and all too often the attacks are coming from our government which is supposed to defend our civil liberties,” said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-19-13) — Americans United for Life (AUL) filed a comment with the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to express concern about the growing trend of purported nondiscrimination policies being used to unjustifiably burden freedom of conscience. Of particular concern to AUL is the requirement by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that nearly all private health insurance plans provide full coverage for life-ending drugs [...]
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-18-13) –Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest praised the Florida House for passing three pro-life bills over the past two days. These bills would prohibit sex-selection abortions, protect the rights of parents whose unborn children are killed through instances of criminal violence, and require medical care for infants born alive during botched abortions. Dr. Yoest testified in Florida on behalf of the Infants Born Alive Protection Act, which passed the House unanimously earlier this week.
“I commend the Florida House for passing three important pro-life pieces of legislation this session,” said Dr. Yoest. “Representatives Pigman, [...]
Last Friday, Planned Parenthood and other abortion advocacy groups were in Richmond, Virginia lobbying against health and safety regulations for abortion clinics being considered (and now passed) by the Virginia Board of Health. The statements and behavior of the regulation’s opponents prove that they are, in fact, the antithesis of the “women’s advocates” they claim to be. Instead, Planned Parenthood and its allies sought to have the Board prioritize profits and autonomy for the abortion industry over the lives and safety of women.
In seeking to advance their own financial and political interests, abortion advocates blatantly ignored evidence of substandard conditions [...]
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-11-13) Today, Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest praised the state of Arkansas for enacting a piece of legislation which protects young girls from sexual predators.
“As a society we must be committed to ending the growing problem of sexual exploitation of young girls,” said AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest. “Our country needs more laws like these which ensure that protection from exploitation and violence does not cease when you cross state lines.”
Based on AUL model legislation, House Bill 1147 requires that forensic evidence be collected and sent to law enforcement if a minor under [...]
“All Americans with religious, moral, or ethical objections should be exempted from the coercive HHS mandate. The freedom of conscience guaranteed in the First Amendment is not confined to houses of worship,” said AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-08-13) – Americans United for Life has filed its third, extensive comment defending freedom of conscience and urging the Obama Department of Health and Human Services to rescind its coercive, anti-life mandate. The mandate requires nearly all private health insurance plans to provide full coverage for life-ending drugs and devices masquerading as “contraception.” Although over 150 plaintiffs have filed [...]
“I applaud the members of the U.S. House for respecting the viewpoint of the vast majority of women, who do not support such gruesome abortion procedures performed against fully formed infants,”
said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (06-18-13) – Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest commended the U.S. House for voting to limit abortion after a child reaches 20 weeks – or about 6 months – of pregnancy. “Even though the bill did not contain explicit findings regarding the adverse effects of late term abortion on maternal health, there is no dispute that the health risks of [...]
Dr. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of AUL, was recently on MSNBC’s UP for a conversation on Arizona Republican Trent Franks’ recent comments on rape, the return of the “war on women,” and bills at the state and national level aimed at reducing the number of abortions.
Dr. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of AUL, was recently quoted on Fox News’ Happening Now about the dangers of giving Plan B to young girls.
Jeanneane Maxon, Vice President of External Affairs and Corporate Counsel for Americans United for Life, appeared on the Mike Huckabee Show to discuss the status of the Kermit Gosnell abortion trial.
The world is welcoming a new pope for the Catholic church, Pope Francis, who was chosen a few weeks ago.
Francis is the first pope from outside Europe. He is from Latin America, from the country of Argentina. So the world’s attention is turned to this part of the world.
Recently, along with lawyers and law professors in Latin America, Americans United for Life published a ground-breaking report, in English and in Spanish, on pro-life laws in Latin America, “Defending the Human Right to Life in Latin America.” The day after the election of Francis as pope, two leading Latin American pro-life lawyers, [...]
