Whereas, Americans United for Life, founded in 1971 as the first national pro-life organization in the United States, serves us all as a nonprofit, public-interest law and policy organization whose vision is a nation in which everyone is welcomed in life and protected in law; and
Whereas, under the direction of President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest, Americans United for Life has provided key leadership across the nation in helping to enact life-saving laws at both the beginning and end of life; and
Whereas, for years here in Missouri, Americans United for Life has provided historic value to the state by producing constitutionally-sound model legislation and expert advice on bills pending before this body; and
Whereas, through their annual publication of the Defending Life legal guides, expert policy briefings for legislators, tracking of state laws across the country, and providing us with thorough national perspectives on vital life issues, Americans United for Life has been a key force in defending the vulnerable and advancing the sanctity of all human life in Missouri; and
Whereas, by providing consistent constitutional and judicial analysis, in-depth legal research, motivating grassroots support, and recognizing key leaders, Americans United for Life has provided many key factors helping us to be among the leading pro-life states in our nation as we continue our commitment to protect all human life under the laws of Missouri; and
Whereas, through Dr. Charmaine Yoest, the work of Americans United for Life has benefitted Missouri time after time with legislative language and support that our state has needed to further expand our body of life-saving laws:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Missouri House of
Representatives, Ninety-sixth General Assembly, join to honor Dr. Charmaine Yoest and Americans United for Life for their commitment to the sanctity of life and their support of our efforts to defend human life here in the great state of Missouri; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
